Do you want to heal the childhood trauma wounds that are holding you back and keeping you from confidently living the life God wants you to live?
Does your trauma history keep you crippled by fear, unable to discern and trust God’s plan, process, and purpose for your life?
The effects of childhood trauma can show up as low moods, negative thoughts, overthinking, anxiety, crippling fear, low self-worth, physical illness, constant comparison, or emotional disconnection.
I’ve been there.
Hey sister-friend 👋🏽
Welcome to the Shades of Trauma Healing Podcast. A space for Christian women of all beautiful shades to experience trauma healing, move beyond blocks and begin fully living the life God is calling them to live.
I’m so glad you’re here 😊
I’m Jenniel, a dearly loved daughter of God, trauma thriver, trauma therapist, and life coach, living out my purpose.
The impacts of my childhood trauma remained unaddressed for years. I struggled through life, feeling stuck, unsafe, sensitive to threats of danger, and emotionally disconnected from God and the people around me. I desperately wanted to know and live out my purpose but had difficulty hearing God and figuring it out.
I pursued education, career goals, ministry, and travelled, trying to find my place and call in this world. I thought had to do more things, but no matter what I did, I still felt unsure of who I was and what I was meant to do.
I finally realized that the key to becoming who God wanted me to be started with facing my trauma wounds and pursuing holistic healing so I could remove the obstacles that prevented me from hearing God and experiencing life fully.
As I healed from the emotional and somatic impacts of childhood trauma, my relationship with God improved, and I gained clarity about who I am and who God wanted me to be. I began to thrive.
Today, I’m the most emotionally and spiritually healthy version of myself. I’m embracing more joy and laughter, and I’m living God’s call on my life as I walk in relationship with him.
If you want to overcome the childhood trauma wounds that are holding you back…
If you want to develop your ability to trust God and begin thriving in the life he is calling you to live…
This podcast is for you.
Here you’ll receive
🌟Trauma education to help identify and address the impacts of childhood trauma that keep you stuck.
🌟Mindset strategies and relational tips to help you develop your connection with others.
🌟Spiritual applications to help you deepen your trust and connection with God so you can gain clarity and discernment
🌟Motivational stories from other survivors so you see that you can heal and thrive after childhood trauma.
My healing journey led me to address the emotional, spiritual, social, and neurological impacts and wounds caused by trauma, and this resulted in freedom like I’ve never known.
And I’d love to share what I learned and experienced with you!
We will approach trauma healing while walking together with God, The One who loves you most and wants you to heal and live an abundant life of joy, peace, and purpose.
Today God is saying to you, his daughter…
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10.
God’s got you, sister-friend, so let’s do this.
Blessings and Love
Jenniel 😊

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Have you ever found it challenging to connect with God, read your Bible, or just be still in His presence?
Maybe you’re struggling with feeling close to God, and you don’t know why. What if your trauma is getting in the way? Trauma isn’t just emotional or psychological—it affects the brain, including the prefrontal cortex, which plays a key role in spiritual discernment and impulse control. It also impacts how we perceive God and experience worship.
Today, we’re diving into how trauma can affect spiritual growth and intimacy with God. Stay with me because this conversation may be the breakthrough you need.
I hope this episode blesses and inspires you.

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
When I began working with people to help them heal from difficult childhood experiences, I began having more and more conversations at work and with people in general about childhood trauma. We would talk about their struggles, hopes and wishes as it relates to healing from the effects of childhood trauma.
One thing I began to see was a pattern of women not understanding, minimizing or even dismissing their traumatic experiences. The more I heard it, the more it breaks my heart to hear these lovely women say it, and I want to address it today.
Many women don’t believe what they experienced was serious enough to warrant seeking help. After all, they did not experience any big events like violent sexual assault, war, or life-threatening situations. This means they often remain stuck in pain with trauma wounds instead of getting the support and healing they need.
Today I dig into the classifications of trauma, how trauma is actually formed and why your trauma is not based on a particular event.
I will give space to understand why your experience and trauma wounds deserve to be validated, voiced and addressed.
I hope this episode brings you some freedom and healing

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
The idea of being in control can be intoxicating, especially for trauma survivors. At some point, many of us have tried to do God's job in running our own lives. And I totally understand why. The motive is often self-protection—we want to avoid feeling powerless again. It’s part of the hypervigilance that results from trauma.
But have you ever considered that your need for control might actually be exhausting you instead of protecting you? Could it be that God has something better for you if you loosen your grip?
Today, we’re going to talk about why you can’t control your life better than God and how to begin letting go so you can experience safety and the abundant life that is possible.
I hope this episode blesses and inspires you.

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Many survivors of childhood trauma focus on what was done to them and the people who hurt them. They believe the key to healing, feeling joy and love is to have the person who wronged them confess, ask for their forgiveness, and make amends. These actions certainly help with the healing process, and thankfully, it is not the only way.
Today, I will share with you the Surprisingly Overlooked Path to Attaining Joy, Love, and Discernment.
I hope this episode blesses you.

Today we look at part 2 of the tips for better decision-making
Overthinking is draining as it can consume a significant amount of time and energy, hindering your ability to focus on tasks. It can increase stress and anxiety, and cause Paralysis by analysis which prevents you from making timely decisions, leading to missed opportunities.
Let’s explore the final 5 tips to help you conquer overthinking.

Hey Sister-Friend,
How are you doing today? I hope you are well
Today, we will look at part 2 of the four pillars of trauma healing that every Christian woman should know.
In part one (episode 140) I unpacked the first 2 pillars of trauma healing, which are:
Relational safety and preparation, and
Education and skills building
In this episode, I will discuss the last two pillars:
Desensitization and Integration
Prost traumatic growth and resilience.
Many trauma survivors know that they want healing but are not quite sure how the process would look. By sharing these foundations, it will provide some insight into what you can expect the trauma-healing journey to entail.
Your exact process would be tailored and co-created between you and your chosen mental health professional, and with the information in this episode, you will be able to explore and discuss what would be helpful to your healing.
I hope you enjoy this episode and I wish you every success in your trauma-healing journey.
Blessings and Love

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Overthinking is essentially dwelling excessively on thoughts, ideas, or problems, often without reaching a conclusion. It causes people to replay situations over and over in their minds, analyzing every possible outcome, and getting stuck in a loop. Overthinking is draining and can increase stress and anxiety. Today’s quick tips will give you 5 tips for better decision-making.
I hope this episode blesses and inspires you.

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Is it just me, or are you finding that life is becoming more distracting?
There is always something to think about, do, or solve. I was finding that my mind was getting preoccupied with all the things in my day and world, and it was robbing my peace.
At the end of the day, I felt like there were more things to do than I got done, and I did not like where my head was, so I decided to apply 5 daily practices that have shifted my mindset, giving me more peace and allowing me to declare each day as a success.
I hope these practices are supportive for you.

Hey Sister-Friend,
Today we get to explore the foundations of trauma healing. In this episode, I will share the foundation that Christian women should base their healing on and how to build that foundation.
I talk about the first 2 pillars of trauma healing so you know what to look for and what to expect as you take (or consider taking) your first step toward healing.
Knowing the psychoeducation about how the traumatized body heals best gives hope to those seeking help.
The first two pillars will be discussed today and tune in next week for the last two pillars.
The foundation on which we build healing – as you may have guessed- is knowing God as he truly is and your identity in him. I will share tips on how you can become more grounded in both areas.
Pillar number 1 is relational safety and preparation. I will share why this is essential in trauma treatment.
The second pillar is education and skills building. It is also important to understand the biological and physiological impacts of trauma on the body and how the state of the body directly influences one’s behaviour and actions.
This will help you let go of any guilt, shame or frustration around any responses to triggering events. Instead, you will gain a new understanding of how to work with your body before you reach a state of upset or dysregulation.
I enjoyed producing this episode and I hope you find it educational and helpful.
Blessings and Love
Jenniel

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Today, let's talk about something real, something maybe a little raw: trusting God when life feels…well, not so trusting.
You've been hurt in the past, you’ve dealt with some heavy stuff, and now the idea of trusting anyone, let alone God, feels like a big, fat "NOPE!"
Been there, believe me. But here's the thing: I believe the healing journey for women of faith includes learning to trust God and his plan, and calling for our lives.
So, let's explore some ways to rebuild that trust, bit by bit
I hope this episode blesses and inspires you.
In Healing and Love 😊

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
I’m taking how to attune to your body for better stress management today. As Christian women, we're often called in a million directions – family, church, work, our passions.
It's easy to get overwhelmed, right? But hear this: taking care of yourself isn't selfish; it's essential! Because when we're stressed and depleted, how can we truly live out our calling?
I hope this episode blesses and inspires you.
